Reflection

You may be familiar with the fifth commandment in the Bible: Honor your father and mother. However, you may not know that this is just a portion of the commandment.

The entire verse is as follows: Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God is giving to you.

I am thankful that I still have my mother. She lives at the Massachusetts Veterans Home. Unfortunately, I won’t see her on Mother’s Day this year. When I go to Massachusetts in June, I plan to take my mother on a short walk and then find a quiet spot for us to sit and reflect on the world that God has given us.

Perhaps the best way we can honor our mother is by taking a small action today- like planting a tree- that will benefit others later.

How do you plan to honor your mother this year?
